For Writers

Hello there, writers!  Good to see you here!

I always enjoy learning about other writers' processes--how do they come up with ideas? Where do they start? One thing I've discovered is no two authors have the same exact process. Our brains don't all work the same way! Some stories start with characters. Others begin with a spark of a hook.

Then there's me. While I have some patterns when it comes to writing, it is never the same process twice. Sometimes a story  starts with a character (like it did with Tavin Knox, the hero of The Reluctant Guardian, whom I saw fully-formed in my mind while I was pulling my car into the driveway.) Others start with a event (The Blizzard Bride, centered around a real-life, terrible storm) or a setting (A Future for His Twins, which takes place in a fictional small town in beautiful gold rush country, California).

While I might start in different places, I consistently turn to certain tools for my writing process. And I'm happy to share some of those tools with you!

Below, I've listed links to articles I've written, as well a link to my Pinterest page on Writing Tips & Encouragement.  Just click on the words below for the link to take you to them. I've also included a character interview sheet if you need a little help getting to know your characters.

I hope some of them are helpful to you!
